I have now been in Madrid around a month I wanted one of my first few blog posts to surround the goals that I am setting myself for my Erasmus year. Hopefully it will be an easy and efficient way to look back over my year to see whether I have made any self improvements.
1. Marketing Experience
My main goal for the experience was to expand my knowledge in the marketing industry. To do this, I applied for 2 marketing modules which I am studying in Madrid at UEM. Through this I hope to be able to apply myself into some work experience in the field throughout the year and I am planning on applying for a summer placement in marketing as I have now decided that this is what I want to focus on in my career.
2. Learning Spanish
I have always wanted to learn another language and if this isn’t the perfect excuse to then I don’t know what is. Once I get settled in and know my schedule I want to begin lessons with a private tutor to add to the learning which I have been completing individually.
3. Photography
Since being at Coventry, my researching and conceptual photography has definitely improved. However, myself and some others on my course are definitely struggling a bit with the more technical side of photography. Doing some more basic photography modules at UEM will hopefully improve my technical photography which is why one of my goals is to aim to improve this throughout my Erasmus year.
4. Travel
One main aim which I have before finishing university is to travel as much as possible before being tied down with a job when I graduate. I want to use this year to try to travel as much as possible as I think the experience of travelling is very beneficial, particularly for growing a personality and confidence.
I will write another blog post near the end of my time in Madrid to reflect on my experiences and to see if I have completed any of these goals and their benefits.
